3/27/2020 0 Comments Beach Day!Dear Families,
Today would have been our annual "Beach Day" celebration at Ryder. Since we are not in school to do these activities together, Mrs. Ferri and I came up with some ideas that can be done at home. Have fun! 1. Complete this beach related Mad Lib: https://www.education.com/worksheet/article/fill-in-the-blanks-story-5/ 2. Complete this Beach I Spy sheet: http://simpleplayideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Beach-I-Spy-Game.jpg 3. Read while laying on a beach towel! You can even change into your bathing suit and put on a pair of sunglasses! 4. Listen to this Pete the Cat beach story- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfnym_JvR20 5. Try these beach and ocean themed yoga poses! https://www.kidsyogastories.com/beach-yoga-poses/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Dmx5ysvJUo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIiF3uoMNWQ 6. Here are some things you might want to try today or tomorrow:
1. Take a Nature Walk! Can you see signs of spring? Flowers sprouting? Birds migrating back? Look for other clues or use this checklist: https://www.funwithmama.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Scavenger-hunt-4.pdf 2. Write a spring acrostic poem! What do you think of when you think of spring? Use this template or make your own! http://www.thehappyteacher.co/2013/03/a-bunny-blog-hop.html Here's mine! S unny days P layground time R eady for Easter I see snow melting N ew baby animals are born G reener grass 3. Try making this puddle jump math game! All you need is paper and a marker. You could even just use chalk! https://nurturestore.co.uk/puddle-jump-active-math-game *I love the variations that are listed at the bottom!! (skip count by 5's or 10's, call out math facts and jump to the answer, or even try saying 1 more or less than a number and let students jump to the answer). 4. Listen to this read aloud! When Spring Comes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IMQguIVLL4 5. Complete some of these spring related Mad Libs: https://www.woojr.com/spring-mad-libs/ Have a great day! Ms. Heidorn 3/23/2020 0 Comments PARP IdeasDear Families, March is PARP (Pick a Reading Partner) month and our theme at Ryder this year was "Camp Read A Lot." Since we missed our PARP school-wide celebration this year, I thought I would come up with some camping related ideas that can be done at home: 1. Write a scary ghost story that can be told around a campfire! 2. Go on a camping related scavenger hunt outside! Here are 10 things to find: a stick, a leaf, a worm, a pinecone, something bumpy, something smooth, something yellow, firewood, animal tracks, and a flower. 3. Build a tent out of blankets and read under it. You can even turn out the lights and read with a flashlight! 4. Play "Go Fish!" the card game. 5. Complete this camping related Mad Lib! See file attached at the bottom of this post. 6. Start a rock collection! You can even draw on them with paint or markers. 7. Follow along and read the book Amelia Bedelia Goes Camping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmMn0VTMtbw Find different examples throughout the book that are funny due to Amelia taking the expressions literally :-) 8. Cozy up and read in front of a fire! If you don't have a fireplace at home, put a pretend one up on your screen here and get reading! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsOUv9EzKsg 9. Learn some nature themed yoga poses! https://childhood101.com/yoga-for-kids-a-walk-through-the-garden/ 10. Play camping themed charades! Ideas found here: https://glamperlife.com/printable-camping-charades-game/ Have fun and happy camping! Ms. Heidorn
